A Simple Cure For Your Cuticles

We are doing our part to stay happy and healthy by safely social distancing, being mindful of maintaining a healthy diet, boosting our immune system with adaptogens, getting fresh air and sunshine, and of course…constantly washing our hands!

One purpose of our skin is to protect us! And since washing hands so often can strip our skin and nails of  protective oils, it is essential to replenish them. The best time to moisturize our skin is directly after washing our hands to lock in all the hydration possible. Adding in a replenishing cuticle oil has made a huge difference in rough hand relief.  After moisturizing your hands, use 3-4 drops of this oil on cuticles and nails, massage in, and see the difference for yourself.  This is also a really easy and inexpensive non-toxic gift for friends and family over the holidays since we all are sanitizing so much more!

Simple DIY Cuticle Oil

Supplies needed:

Almond Oil -our carrier oil of choice but feel free to substitute jojoba or avocado oil.  All are great choices and are deeply restorative to dry, brittle nails.

Vitamin E (optional)- an antioxidant that will soften and moisturize the skin and also helps to extend shelf life of mixture.

Essential Oils- we used a combination of lavender and rose geranium, but choose what your senses are drawn to.

Small glass dropper bottle

Small Funnel

Directions:

1.  Add 1 Tablespoon of Sweet Almond Oil in a bowl adding 4 drops each of Vitamin E, Lavender essential oil, and Rose Geranium Essential Oil.  Mix for several minutes until well incorporated.

2. Using funnel, pour mixture into empty dropper bottle.

3. Massage 3-4 drops into nail beds directly after hand washing and moisturizing! We love to end the day with this treatment because it has the ability to nourish the skin overnight.
